ABSTRACT An excavator in which the underside of the under-frame is preferably flat and a boom and cabin are mounted on a rail car, which is mounted on an upper-frame, which, in turn, is mounted on, and able to rotate against, a lower-frame. Lifting legs are attached to the rail car so that when the legs and the bucket on the boom are pushed into the ground the wheels or crawlers are lifted from the ground and as a result the rail car can be moved relative to the upper-frame by hydraulic cylinders.
