A method for manufacturing an exchanger includes the steps of folding sheet material in a series of pleats, placing the folded sheet material in a casing having an opening defined by walls with distal edges, covering the distal edges with end portions of the sheet material, and affixing a cover to the casing by melting a portion of the cover and contacting the cover with the sheet material covering the distal edges of the walls. The method may also include melting a portion of the cover and/or the casing and placing the melted cover on the casing so that the melted portion contacts pleats of the sheet material, and permitting the melted material to cool and solidify and form a bond with the sheet material. The method may further include melting the side edges of the folded sheet material as well as the four edges of the casing and cover and the inner surfaces of the side walls, and then bonding the side walls to the melted folded material and the melted casing cover edges.
L'invention a trait à une méthode de fabrication d'un échangeur. La méthode comprend les étapes suivantes : plier une feuille métallique afin d'obtenir une série de plis; placer la feuille pliée dans un boîtier comprenant une ouverture définie par des parois ayant des arêtes distales; couvrir ces arêtes au moyen des extrémités de la feuille de matériau et fixer un couvercle au boîtier en faisant fondre une partie du couvercle de façon à établir un contact entre le couvercle et le matériau en feuille couvrant les arêtes distales des parois. La méthode peut également consister à faire fondre une partie du couvercle et/ou du boîtier et à placer le couvercle en partie fondu sur le boîtier de sorte que la partie fondue entre en contact avec les plis du matériau en feuille et laisser le matériau fondu refroidir et se solidifier afin de former un lien avec le matériau en feuille. La méthode propose également de faire fondre les arêtes latérales de la feuille de matériau plissée ainsi que les quatre arêtes du boîtier, et le matériau du couvercle et les surfaces intérieures des parois latérales puis de faire coller les parois latérales au matériau fondu plié et aux arêtes fondues du couvercle et du boîtier.
