A compact excimer laser system is provided that includes argon fluoride laser gas, electronics, and laser head all compactly arranged such that the patient's bed can rotate over all of these components. This allows the patient's bed to be rotated for easy egress of the patient without striking the head against an optical extension through which the excimer laser is fired onto the patient's eye. Further, an automated lamellar keratoplasty system is incorporated into the electronics and components of the laser system so that laser in situ keratomileusis can be easily performed.

L'invention concerne un système compact de laser excimère, lequel comprend un laser à gaz de fluorure d'argon, de l'électronique, ainsi qu'une tête de laser, le tout étant disposé de manière compacte de façon que le lit du patient puisse tourner au-dessus de tous ces composants. Cette disposition permet ainsi de pivoter le lit, le patient pouvant sortir facilement sans risquer de se heurter la tête contre une extension optique à travers laquelle on a envoyé des décharges laser sur son oeil. Enfin, on décrit un système de kératoplastie lamellaire automatique, incorporé dans l'électronique et les composants du système laser, de manière à pouvoir exécuter facilement in situ une kératomileusis.
