Exercise garment (10) includes an outer layer (22) of clothing which is in the form of a warm up suit or sweatsuit loosely fitting on the user. An inner layer of clothing made of elastic resistance material (14) is secured to the inside of the outer layer of clothing. The inner layer of clothing is anchored at spaced locations so that the user is required to stretch the material of the inner layer (14) during various body movements while the outer layer (22) remains loose fitting.
