ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Exercise apparatus for providing a user with a range of exercise movements and recording a measure of the effort exerted includes a first and second body engaging devices adapted to be contacted by first and second portions of the user's body and to be moved therewith, the first and second body engaging devices being linked in a force transmitting passive relationship for effecting predeter- mined coordinated movement with respect to one another by an interconnection converting positive musculature work applied to one of the body engaging devices to negative musculature work supplied to the other body, there being substantially no other forces applied to the body engaging devices, whereby all resistive forces are provided by the user and may be instantaneously varied by the user.
