ABSTRACT A rowing machine has a frame, a handle pivoted to the frame for fore and aft movement, a seat which is slidable along the frame, and an energy- dissipating mechanism which acts between the handle and the front part of the frame, by means of a webbing strap extending between these parts, to resist rearwards movement of the handle. To make the machine more compact for storage purposes, the frame comprises two portions which are hinged together, and can be folded together for storage purposes. In the folded position, the handle hooks under the seat, to keep the machine in this position.
