A connector for joining together in an end-to-end arrangement two lengths of wire-wound flexible hose includes a unitary, molded plastic hollow body which is internally threaded with two series of threads separated by an interior abutment rib. A first series of threads are cooperatively arranged to receive one of the two lengths of flexible hose. The other series of internal threads is cooperatively arranged to threadedly receive the other length of flexible hose. As the flexible hose is threaded into the interior of the connector, the molded threads on the interior of the hollow body control the pitch of the wire-wound flexible hose in order to ensure secure threaded engagement. In a related embodiment, the internally-threaded connector portion is combined with a protector portion on one side and a conduit- connecting portion on the opposite side. These three portions are joined as a unitary molded member. The conduit- connecting portion is designed to press onto a dryer exhaust pipe for attaching the connector to the pipe with a secure interference fit. The protector portion serves as a spacer to control the amount of clearance between the rear panel of the dryer and an adjacent vertical wall. The length of the protector portion is sufficient to allow the flexible hose to make a 90 degree bend without being pinched or otherwise restricted as could occur if the dryer is pushed too close to the vertical wall.
