The present invention relates to an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst comprising on a hon~eycomb carrier a catalytic coating. Said honeycomb carrier has an upstream end and a downstream end and a plurality of flow channels are running from the upstream end to the downstream end. The catalytic coating comprises catalytically active precious metal components of which at least one component exhibits a concentration profile along the honeycomb carrier starting with a low concentration at the upstream end which in~creases along the flow channels up to a maximum value and then decreases again to the downstream end.

Un catalyseur de nettoyage des gaz d'échappement comprenant un revêtement catalytique sur un support en nid d'abeille. Ces support présente une extrémité en amont et une extrémité en aval et une pluralité de passages d'écoulement allant de l'extrémité en amont vers l'extrémité en aval. Le revêtement catalytique renferme des composants métalliques précieux catalytiquement actifs dont au moins un composant fait preuve d'un profil de concentration le long du support en nid d'abeille partant d'une faible concentration au niveau de l'extrémité en amont qui augmente le long des passages d'écoulement jusqu'à atteindre une valeur maximale, puis qui diminue à nouveau vers l'extrémité en aval.
