ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed herein is a muffler comprising a plurality of attenuater can assemblies located within a muffler housing and extending in parallel relation to each other and each including an attenuater can having a first end wall secured to and coincident with the outer muffler wall, a second end wall, a cylindrical sidewall extending between the end walls and located within the muffler and extending generally perpendicularly to the outer muffler wall. Each cylindrical sidewall includes perforations within the muffler adjacent the first end wall. Each attenuater can assembly also includes an outlet pipe having an inlet located within the attenuater can adjacent the second end wall, extending radially with respect to the axis of the muffler and through the first end wall and through and beyond the outer muffler wall for communication with the outside environment.
