ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An exhaust port liner for an internal combustion engine is formed of thin wall heat resistant material and is provided with an entrance opening at one side to receive exhaust gases discharged from an engine combustion chamber. A poppet type valve which closes against a stationary seat has a portion which extends through the entrance opening of the liner and also through an aperture in a wall of the liner. This aperture may also receive a portion of the valve stem guide and the liner may be fixed to the valve stem guide in the region of said aperture. The liner has a discharge opening and a support flange fixed to the liner encircles the discharge opening. A peripheral layer of insulation material may be provided on the liner and this insulation material may be confined within a shell forming a part of the liner.
