An exhaust system for residential applications which utilizes a remote central vacuum system and connected inline piping to remove stale air, odours, gases and steam from a room or enclosed area. The polluted air is draw through an opening in the bottom of an outer housing to which the piping is connected by means of an opening at the top of the housing. The polluted air is drawn over a solid faced baffle composed of a rigid material which is attached to the inner surface of the housing. The central vacuum system then expels the polluted air to the outdoors. The central vacuum system is turned on by means of a manual switch in the room. The vacuum is supplied to the top of the housing by means of a valve set in the piping which can block the flow through the piping. This valve can be operated from within the room as well. The manual switch and the valve are preferably operated at the same time by means of a dual purpose switch.
