ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Expandable ethylenically unsaturated polymer particle compositions containing an expanding agent, said polymer particles having the surfaces thereof coated with a layer of a compound comprising calcium carbonate having a particle size of from 0.02 to 0.2 microns and the surfaces of said calcium carbonate particles having chemically attached thereto organic compounds selected from the group consisting of higher fatty acids, resin acid, lingnin sulfonic acid and mixtures thereof.
