An expandable intervertebral implant includes two separate shells (10, 12) having corrugated mating surfaces (20, 22) which resist compression and shifting when the parts are distracted by a special installation tool (60). The shells include two planar wings (16, 18) which provide a large bearing area against adjacent vertebral endplates to prevent the implant from sinking into soft cancellous bone.

L'invention concerne un implant expansible intervertébral comprenant deux coquilles séparées (10, 12) à surfaces de jonction ondulées (20, 22) qui résistent à la compression et au décalage lorsque les parties sont séparées au moyen d'un outil spécial d'installation (60). Les coquilles comprennent deux ailes planes (16, 18) qui constituent une surface de support importante contre les faces discales de vertèbres adjacentes permettant d'empêcher une pénétration de l'implant dans l'os spongieux.
