An expandable reamer apparatus for drilling a subterranean formation includes a tubular body (108), one or more blades (101, 102, 103), each blade positionally coupled to a sloped track (148) of the tubular body, a push sleeve (115) and a drilling fluid flow path extending through an inner bore of the tubular body for conducting drilling fluid therethrough. Each of the one or more blades includes at least one cutting element configured to remove material from a subterranean formation during reaming. The push sleeve is disposed in the inner bore of the tubular body and coupled to each of the one or more blades so as effect axial movement thereof along the track to an extended position responsive to exposure to a force or pressure of drilling fluid in the flow path of the inner bore. The track is sloped upwardly and outwardly at an acute angle (180).

Aléseur extensible servant à sonder une formation souterraine et comprenant un corps tubulaire, une ou plusieurs lames dont chacune est accouplée à une glissière inclinée du corps tubulaire, un manchon poussoir et un passage d'écoulement de liquide de forage s'étendant à travers un taraudage du corps tubulaire afin d'y faire circuler le liquide de forage. Chacune des lames comporte au moins un élément coupant conçu pour retirer de la matière d'une formation souterraine pendant l'alésage. Le manchon poussoir est placé dans le taraudage du corps tubulaire et accouplé à chacune des lames, de manière à en opérer le déplacement axial le long de la glissière vers une position d'extension sensible au contact avec une force ou une pression du liquide de forage dans le passage d'écoulement du taraudage. L'invention concerne également d'autres modes de réalisation de cet aléseur extensible.
