ABSTRACT The specification describes an expansion unit for an anchor bolt assembly including an expansion member retained within. The expansion member has a polar axis that defines a longitudinal direction, which has a longitudinal bore therethrough and which has three tapered longitudinally extending sides that in any transverse cross-section lie on arcs that intersect one another at the vertices of an equilateral triangle, each side having as centre the vertex that is opposite thereto. The unit further includes a shell having a plurality of externally serrated wall engaging members providing an internal profile corresponding to the external profile of the expansion member.
