ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An expansion dowel assembly includes an axially extending dowel and an expansion member. In the expansion step, the expansion member is axially displaced over a surface on the dowel to provide form-locking enlargement of the dowel assembly within a borehole. The surface of the dowel, over which the expansion member is displaced. is made up of two serially arranged frusto-conical surface sections. Each surface section is disposed at a different acute angle to the dowel axis.
