ABSTRACT An explosion-proof building having walls and a roof. The walls have a plurality of spaced apart load bearing members and panels in the spaces between the load bearing members. Plastically deformable elements, generally in the form of prestressed steel wires, extend between the load bearing members and have the ends thereof anchored, such that in an explosion the explosion energy generated is absorbed and dissipated in plastic deformation of the deform- able elements.
