44 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Ribosomal binding site linkers comprise a first deoxynucleotide sequence which is homologous to the 3'-end of 16S ribosomal RNA and a second deoxynucleotide sequence comprising 3 to 11 deoxynucleotides joined to the first deoxynucleotide sequence. The provision of such linkers permits direct expression of a non-fusion protein.
