This invention is an improvement of a structure of the type used as winter car shelters. The structure has a plurality of transverse arch members having a plurality of support mechanisms at each end to support the arches above a base surface. The support mechanisms extends and retracts between two sequential arches, and allows for a compact storage configuration after all support mechanisms between arches are retracted. The structure is usually covered with a canvas or other flexible covering that spans across the exterior of the said structure. The fabric encompasses on its surface a plurality of longitudinal zig-zag foldable spar structures, that guide the fabric to fold simultaneously with the support structure like an accordion-type pattern. The structure is designed to withstand heavy loads ,such as snow accumulation. The structure offers the most rigid statically indeterminate configuration possible, and it also improves the ease and the time deployment of the state of the art in retractable arch structures. The structure can be neatly stored in an aesthetic compact enclosure of the type either a portable or a fixed at one end of the driveway .
