A wheel assembly for four-wheel luggage having two swivel casters mounted at the front, the wheel assembly providing two extendible and retractable fixed axle wheels mounted in a housing attached to the luggage at the back. The back wheels are movable from a first position in which the wheel span is maximized to a second position in which the wheel span is minimized. The two back wheels are secured to two parallelograms with hinges in all corners and thus remain parallel to the side of the luggage at all times.
