Abstract of the Disclosure There is disclosed an extendible core rod or pin having an extendible head portion formed of a porous metal and including conduit means for pa-sing air during expansion of the preform as well as from and through the porous metal of the head portion of the core rod, as more fully hereinafter described. Another embodiment is directed to the use of the hereinabove described extendible porous core rod or pin in a process and apparatus for manufacturing hollow articles, and in particular, such use in an injection blow molding process and apparatus for the manufacture of tall, small-necked, barrier containers having bi-axial orientation of the liners.
