An extensible commutation engine (1) connected to a command database (6) for formatting a command buffer via command interface (5) in a device commanding system comprises: a modifiable list of constants, each constant forming a coded representation of parameters associated with a device command, at least one set of instructions for formatting the command buffer in accordance with a device command using a command formatter (2), and a modifiable mapping of each set of instructions with a corresponding constant. In addition, the commutation engine is extensible to accommodate device commands having new parameters via mapping of new constants with a set of instructions according to said new parameters. The commutation engine can be used to provide application specific output (4) for use in controlling various devices (7).
L'invention concerne un dispositif de commutation extensible (1) connecté à une base de données de commande (6) pour le formatage d'un tampon de commande par l'intermédiaire d'une interface de commande (5) dans un système de commande d'appareil. Ledit dispositif est composé d'une liste modifiable de constantes, chaque constante formant une représentation codée de paramètres associés à une commande d'appareil, d'au moins un ensemble d'instructions destiné à formater le tampon de commande selon une commande d'appareil au moyen d'un formateur de commande (2), et d'une application modifiable de chaque ensemble d'instructions comportant une constante correspondante. Par ailleurs, le dispositif de commutation selon l'invention est extensible, de manière à pouvoir traiter des commandes d'appareil ayant de nouveaux paramètres par l'intermédiaire de l'application de nouvelles constantes avec un ensemble d'instructions selon lesdits nouveaux paramètres. Le dispositif de commutation selon l'invention peut être utilisé afin de fournir une sortie (4) spécifique à l'application, servant à commander différents appareils (7).
