ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improvement is disclosed in extension apparatus which is attached to the ash funnel of the combustion chamber of a boiler and which extends beneath the surface of quench water in the trough of a wet ash remover under the ash funnel. The improvement is that the extension apparatus has cooled carriers extending transversely therethrough which are sus- pended outside the apparatus from the ash funnel and there is a resilient seal between the extension apparatus and the ash funnel, the seal absorbing thermal expansion of the extension apparatus and preventing leakage.
