An anti-theft device is provided for securing an extension cord having a plug on an end thereof. The device includes first and second members which are mounted for relative sliding movement therebetween. The first and second members include respective first and second slots therein which define corresponding cord receiving apertures when the first and second members are positioned in a cord retaining position. A lock is provided for selectively restricting relative movement between the first and second members. A plurality of mounting apertures in the first member receive fasteners therethrough for mounting the device on a supporting structure. Guard flanges on the second member cover the mounting apertures in the cord retaining position for guarding the fasteners from unwanted tampering.
