EXTENSION FRAME AND MOULDING CARRIER. ABSTRACT: A multilevel artwork frame comprised of a base frame (10) and a layer frame (12) permanently affixed one to the other and incorporating a rectangular aperture through which a piece of artwork (8) mounted to a rigid or semi-rigid base panel (6) may be slidably inserted and secured. If secured within the outer surface of the layer frame (12) the effect is a three dimensional presentation. If secured to the inner surface of the layer frame (12) a shadow box effect is created. Standardized moldings (16) and (16') maybe affixed to the perimeter of the base frame (10) and the layer frame (14) to further enhance the mounting systems visual appearance.
