In a communication network having a plurality of stations and a shared commoncommunications medium using a collision avoidance media access protocol for communication between the stations; in which medium access is granted to a pair of stations obtaining a successful reservation of the medium; the pair of stations comprising a requester station and a target station, wherein multiple stations may request access to the medium to send data, a method of establishing a reservation between stationscomprising: the requesting stations sending Request-to-Send (RTS) control frames and the receiving stations responding as appropriate with Clear-to-Send (CTS) control frames; wherein a requesting node aborts the reservation if the medium becomes active between its RTS transmission and the corresponding CTS response of its target station; performing arbitration by stations receiving the RTS transmission as follows: if a receiving station receives multiple Request-to-Send (RTS) control frames directed to the receiving station during a contention period, the receiving station responds to the last RTS control frame received by transmitting Clear-to-Send (CTS) control frames; if the receiving station receives multiple RTS control frames directed to different receiving stations during a contention period, the receiving station will respect the first RTS control frame received.
Méthode conçue pour un réseau de transmission comportant un certain nombre de stations et un support de transmission partagé respectant un protocole d'accès anticollision pour les communications entre les stations. L'accès au support est garanti, sur réservation, à une paire de stations composée d'une station demandeuse et d'une station cible. De multiples stations peuvent demander accès au support pour transmettre des données. La méthode présentée ici permet de faire une réservation pour une communication entre stations de la façon suivante : les stations demandeuses envoient des trames de commande RTS (demande pour émettre) et les stations réceptrices répondent en envoyant des trames de commande CTS (prêt pour l'émission); un noeud demandeur met fin à la réservation si le support devient actif dans l'intervalle séparant sa transmission RTS et la réponse CTS correspondante de la station cible; les stations qui reçoivent la transmission RTS effectuent un arbitrage comme suit : si, pendant une période de conflit, une station réceptrice reçoit de multiples trames de commande RTS (demande pour émettre) qui lui sont destinées, elle répond à la dernière trame de commande RTS reçue en transmettant des trames de commande CTS; si, pendant une période de conflit, la station réceptrice reçoit de multiples trames de commande RTS destinées à différentes stations réceptrices, elle respecte la première trame de commande reçue.
