An exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS) is provided for use with associated insulation and substrate layers of a building. The system includes primary and secondary water resistant barriers on first and second surfaces of the associated insulation layer. The secondary water resistant barrier includes a single adhesive and sealing layer defining at least one channel and adhesively securing the second surface of the associated insulation layer to the associated substrate layer. The system is usable with a plurality of associated insulation layers disposed in abutment, the single adhesive and sealing layer defining at least one channel extending from the first insulation panel to the second insulation panel and being adapted to conduct fluid therethrough. Further, a hand tool for working the adhesive and sealing layer is provided. The hand tool includes a handle connected with a flat inflexible rectangular plate, at least one of the longer edges thereof being upwardly curved and including a plurality of spaced apart teeth.
L~invention concerne un système d~isolation et de finition extérieures pour une utilisation avec des couches associées d~isolation et de substrat d~un immeuble. Le système comporte une barrière de résistance à l~eau primaire et une barrière de résistance à l~eau secondaire sur une première surface et une seconde surface de la couche d~isolation associée. La barrière de résistance à l~eau secondaire contient une simple couche adhésive et étanche définissant au moins un canal et fixant de manière adhésive la seconde surface de la couche d~isolation associée à la couche de substrat associée. Le système peut s~employer avec une pluralité de couches d~isolation associées disposées en aboutement, la simple couche adhésive et étanche définissant au moins un canal s~étendant depuis le premier panneau isolant jusqu~au second panneau isolant et adapté pour conduire le fluide à travers celui-ci. L~invention concerne aussi un outil à main permettant de travailler la couche adhésive et étanche. L~outil à main comporte une poignée connectée à une plaque rectangulaire inflexible plate, dont au moins l~une des tranches les plus longues est recourbée vers le haut et comprend une pluralité de dents espacées.
