Abstract of the Disclosure . . A cleaning liquid or dry powder concentrate com- position for extraction cleaning of carpeting includes sur- factants, builders and a low foaming cationic surface active agent as an anti-foam agent. A method for simultaneously cleaning a carpet and defoaming any high-foaming residue removed from the car- pet using the water extraction cleaning method which com- prises contacting the carpet with a cleaning concentrate mixed with water, vacuuming the carpet wherein the con- centrate includes sufficient cationic surfactant to inter- act with any high-foaming anionic detergent removed from the carpet.
