A centrifugal separator includes a centrifuge bowl having a plurality of annular rings on the peripheral surface. An outer bowl provides a jacket from which water is injected through holes in the inner bowl into recesses between the annular rings. Feed materials containing gold and mercury are separated so that the gold and mercury is collected with the heavies in the recesses. The liquid mercury escapes through the holes in the inner bowl onto the inner surface of the outer bowl which is provided with an annular receptacle and is shaped to collect the mercury at the receptacle axially spaced from the open mouth of the bowl. A plurality of outlets in the annular receptacle allow the escape of the mercury into a secondary launder inside the outer launder for the main discharge materials from the open mouth. The liquid mercury is thus collected separately from the solid heavies within the bowl and separately from the discharged light material.

Séparateur centrifuge comportant un bol de centrifugation, muni de plusieurs éléments annulaires à la surface périphérique. Un bol externe forme une chemise à partir de laquelle l'eau est injectée à travers des trous dans le bol interne jusqu'à des retraits entre les éléments annulaires. Les matières premières, renfermant l'or et le mercure, sont séparées de façon à recueillir l'or et le mercure dans les minéraux lourds à l'intérieur des retraits. Le mercure liquide s'échappe des trous du bol interne jusqu'à la surface interne du bol externe, qui est muni d'un réceptacle annulaire et dont la forme permet de recueillir le mercure au niveau du réceptacle espacé axialement par rapport à la bouche ouverte du bol. Plusieurs sorties dans le récipient annulaire permettent au mercure de s'échapper dans une goulotte secondaire à l'intérieur de la goulotte externe évacuant le gros des matériaux par la bouche ouverte. Le mercure liquide est ainsi recueilli séparément des minéraux lourds à l'intérieur du bol, et séparément aussi des matériaux légers évacués.
