The present invention relates to pesticides. More particularly, the present invention relates to botanical pesticides. In particular, the present invention relates to compositions and methods for controlling plant-infesting pests with plant extracts and notably with compositions comprising oil extracts derived from Chenopodium sp. plant material. The invention further relates to compositions comprising such extracts as pesticidal compositions and providing the advantages of minimal development of resistance thereto, minimal toxicity to mammals, minimal residual activity and environmental compatibility. The pesticidal compositions of the present invention comprises .alpha.-~terpinene, .rho.-cymene, limonene, carvacrol, carveol, nerol, thymol, and carvone.

La présente invention concerne des pesticides, et notamment des pesticides botaniques. Plus particulièrement, la présente invention concerne des compositions et des méthodes destinées à lutter contre les insectes nuisibles infestant les plantes au moyen d'extraits de plantes, et notamment au moyen de compositions comprenant des extraits d'huile dérivés de Chenopodium sp. L'invention se rapporte en outre à des compositions comprenant ces extraits sous la forme de compositions pesticides caractérisées en ce que les animaux nuisible ne développent qu'une infime résistance contre elles et en ce qu'elles présentent une toxicité minimale vis-à-vis des mammifères, une activité résiduelle minimale ainsi qu'une excellente compatibilité avec l'environnement. Les compositions pesticides de la présente invention renferment de l'.alpha.-terpinène, du .rho.-cymène, du limonène, du carvacrol, du carvéol, du nérol, du thymol et du carvone.
