Retreaded tires are made using a hot extruded splice strip of either natural rubber or a high-synthetic rubber to directly adhere the ends of a precured tire tread together. The retreaded tire, which also contains an uncured cushion strip between the tire tread and a buffed carcass, is then heated to cure the tread splice as well as the tire cushion.
