An apparatus and process for combining an organic fibrous material with a thermoplastic material forming a wood-imitating composite. The mixed material is extruded into a die system (14) comprising a transition die (25), a stranding die (40), and a molding die (78). The flow rate of the material through the die system is equalized by preforming the mixed material with a transition die to a shape approaching the end product, stranding the material with the stranding die to form individual strands, and compressing the individual strands with the molding die after it exits the stranding die. The die system may also include an adapter die (16) positioned between the extruder (12) and the transition die which functions to control the amount of mixed material which enters the die system. A product comprised of recyclables shredded and mixed to form a wood-imitating composite from a low-temperature extruder is also provided.
Appareil et procédé combinant un matériau organique fibreux à un matériau thermoplastique pour former un composite imitant le bois. Après mélange, le composite est extrudé dans un système de filières (14) comportant une filière de transition (25), une filière multitrous (40) et une filière de formage (78). Le débit du composite dans le système de filières est régularisé par son préformage dans la filière de transition où il prend une forme approchant de celle du produit final, par son filage en brins séparés dans la filière multitrous et par la compression des brins dans la filière de moulage à sa sortie de la filière de filage. Le système de filières peut également comporter une filière d'adaptation (16) placée entre l'extrudeuse (12) et la filière de transition qui a pour but de régler la quantité de composite entrant dans le système de filières. Est également présenté un produit composite imitant le bois fait de matières recyclables déchiquetées et mélangées et passées dans une extrudeuse à basse température.
