ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An adjustable wide-slit extrusion nozzle contains a distributor channel having a straight exit edge and a predetermined cross-section taken from the supply port for the nozzle to one end thereof. At least one choker bar is placed between the distributor channel and the nozzle mouth, the choker bar having a damming area of predetermined length dimensions in the direction of flow for given distances from the channel end. The damming area rises above the remaining surface area of the insert, before or behind the damming area surface, in a uniform jump of predetermined size relative to the exit height of the nozzle and is a height-adjustable parallel faced bar mounted in the nozzle. This construction overcomes the problems of prior art extrusion nozzles by ensuring that a uniform amount of material is extruded from every point of the nozzle mount at any moment thereby producing an even film or ribbon.
