A method of forming graphitic bodies comprises the steps of:-a) forming under high shear a mouldable composition comprising:-i) graphite powder; ii) a binder; and iii) a fluid carrier b) working under high shear said mouldable composition to form an extruded shape; c) forming bodies from said shape; and d) heat treating said bodies to stabilise the structure.In which either the fluid carrier is an aqueous fluid carrier, and/or the bodies are impregnated to close porosity and/or the bodies are machined to form structires in their surface.

L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à former des corps graphitiques et consistant (a) à former, sous cisaillement élevé, une composition moulable comprenant (i) une poudre de graphite, (ii) un liant et (iii) un support fluide, (b) à travailler, sous cisaillement élevé, cette composition moulable de manière à former un profilé extrudé, (c) à former des corps à partir de ce profilé, et (d) à soumettre ces corps à un traitement thermique en vue de stabiliser la structure. Selon ce procédé, ledit support fluide est un support fluide aqueux et/ou les corps sont imprégnés jusqu'à l'obtention d'une porosité fermée et/ou ces corps sont usinés en vue d'une formation de structures sur leur surface.
