W.185 Abstract: Method and apparatus for extruding material which can be subsequently cut or broken into pellets such as animal feed pellets in which the feed material is fed into the nip between a rotary die and a press roll, drive means rotating the die and press roll, one directly and the other frictionally driven by the one directly driven, and in which measuring means detects slip between the roll and die and the feed of material to the nip is varied when a predetermined slip or rate of change of slip between the roll and the die is exceeded to avoid choking or blocking of the apparatus.
