ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE. Particles for softening fabrics either in a wash liquor or in the rinse, are formed from a liquid mixture comprising water, a cationic material, such as a quaternary ammonium compound, urea, and a calcium soap. The particles are formed from the liquid mixture by cooling to a solid and then grinding or by spray cooling. Weathering to form a crisp free flowing powder is optional. The presence of water in the liquid mixture improves the dispersibility of the particles.
