The present invention provides a fabric softening composition containing a surfactant as fabric softener, a fragrance precursor, as well as an enzyme suitable for cleaving the fragrance precursor. Upon application of a solution of the softening composition to a fabric, the fragrance precursor is cleaved by the enzyme and a desired odor is imparted to the fabric. Processes for imparting an odor to a fabric using such compositions are also provided.
