A fabricated box stud product and method of making the product from oriented strand board (OSB) . The box stud is made from two T-shaped flanges coupled to two elongated rectangular webs forming an open-ended rectangular OSB tube . The OSB tube is capped by two OSB end plugs, one at each open end of the tube. Foam insulation may occupy the hollow of the box stud. The box stud is manufactured as a 2 by 4, or as a 2 by 6, and is preferably 8 feet long. The manufacturing process entails feeding an OSB sheet into a saw and cutting certain OSB sheets into webs and others into notched flanges using a diamond-toothed Gang Dato and a Gang Saw. A ribbon of hot glue coats each notch of each flange. The webs and flanges are then dropped into an assembly area over a continuous chain drive extending between two sprockets. An assembly pocket having computer automated guide fingers positions the webs and flanges with clamp fingers and clamp rollers which simultaneously provide the necessary horizontal and vertical forces, respectively, to ensure full contact or adhesion. The end plugs are either extruded-in-place using pulverized OSB scraps and injected into each open end of the OSB tube, or cut to fit from OSB scrap stock, dipped into a vat of glue, and placed into each open end of the OSB tube. Foam insulation is injected into the stud through a hole in an end plug or elsewhere
