A method of fabricating metal caskets is described. The method reduces environmental, health and corrosion problems and results in metal caskets having a highly reliable seal between the sidewall shell and the bottom wall panel and which have improved leak resistance. The method includes applying a bead of adhesive along a lower inwardly-facing flange of the casket sidewall, preferably a continuous bead. The sidewall shell and bottom wall panel are then brought into sandwiching engagement to squeeze the adhesive thereinbetween to form a continuous adhesive seal. Subsequently, a plurality of mechanical interlocks are simultaneously formed between the bottom wall panel and the shell flange.
