A penetration resistant article with an area density less than 1.5 Ib/ft2 (7323.6 g/m2) made of a plurality of fibrous fabric layers that have applied thereto about 1 to 8 percent by weight of a polymer having a glass transition temperature in the range of minus 40 to about O~C and a zero shear melt viscosity 2x106 to about 1013 poise at 20~ C is disclosed.

L'invention concerne un article résistant aux pénétrations possédant une densité surfacique inférieure à 1,5 lb/ft2 (7323,6 g/m2). Ledit article est constitué de plusieurs couches de tissu fibreux appliquées au niveau dudit article, entre environ 1 et 8 % en poids d'un polymère qui possède une température de transition vitreuse dans une fourchette allant de -40 à environ 0 °C et une viscosité à l'état fondu de cisaillement zéro comprise entre 2x106 et environ 1013 poise à 20 °C.
