Dans ce procédé du type "à pompe", l'air est réparti en plusieurs flux. Un premier flux est comprimé à la moyenne pression, refroidi et envoyé à la double colonne de distillation. Un deuxième flux est comprimé au-dessus de 25 bars environ, mai au-dessous de la pression de condensation par vaporisation de l'oxygène liquide sous pression, puis refroidi jusqu'à une température intermédiaire, où une partie de l'air poursuit son refroidissement et est liquéfié, puis détendu et envoyé à la double colonne, tandis que le reste est turbiné. Application aux installations de production d'oxygène de grande taille.
