There is provided a locking element and a thermostat incorporating same for use in a liquid-cooling system. The locking element has attachment means comprising a body portion and an end portion for attaching the locking element to the thermostat. Locking means comprising a tab extending from the body portion locks the displaceable valve of the thermostat in an open position when the valve has been displaced a pre-determined amount. In a first embodiment of the locking element, at least one aperture is defined in the end portion to attach the end portion to a lower bridge of the thermostat. In this embodiment, two locking elements are attached to the thermostat on opposing sides of the displaceable valve. In a second embodiment of the locking element, the end portion rests against the bottom member of the lower bridge of the thermostat. In this embodiment, two body portions extend from the end portion to opposing sides of the displaceable valve.
La présente invention a pour objet un mécanisme de blocage ainsi qu'un thermostat utilisé dans un système de refroidissement au liquide incorporant le mécanisme de blocage en question. Le mécanisme de blocage est pourvu d'un organe de fixation constitué d'un corps dont l'extrémité sert à fixer le mécanisme au thermostat. Une patte de verrouillage en saillie sur le corps bloque le clapet du thermostat en position ouverte après déplacement du clapet selon une valeur prédéterminée. Dans une première version du mécanisme de blocage, au moins une ouverture est pratiquée dans l'extrémité du mécanisme pour attacher celle-ci à une cloison inférieure du thermostat. Dans cette version, deux organes de blocage sont fixés sur les côtés opposés du clapet. Dans une deuxième version du mécanisme de blocage, l'extrémité du mécanisme repose sur le fond de la cloison inférieure du thermostat. Dans cette version, l'extrémité du mécanisme est prolongée par deux corps disposés de part et d'autre du clapet.
