An input-buffered multipoint switch (60) having input channels (62, 64, 66 and 68) and output channels (72, 74, 76 and 78) includes multi-level request buffers (122, 124, 126 and 128), a data multiplexer (130), and a scheduler (132). The switch (60) has a distinct multi-level request buffer associated with each input channel and each request buffer has multiple request registers (160, 162, 164 and 166) for storing data cell transfer requests of different priorities. The multiple request registers (160, 162, 164 and 166) are linked in parallel to the scheduler (132) to allow arbitration among requests of different input channels and different priority levels.

L'invention concerne un commutateur multipoint à tampon d'entrée (60), comportant des voies d'entrée (62, 64, 66 et 68) et des voies de sortie (72, 74, 76 et 78), des tampons de demande multiniveau (122, 124, 126 et 128), un multiplexeur de données (130) et un ordonnanceur (132). Le commutateur (60) est équipé, pour chaque voie d'entrée, d'un tampon associé de demande multiniveau distinct, et chaque tampon de demande a plusieurs registres de demande (160, 162, 164 et 166) qui permettent d'enregistrer les demandes de transfert de cellules de données obéissant à des degrés de priorité différents. Les registres de demande (160, 162, 164 et 166) sont reliés en parallèle à l'ordonnanceur (132), pour assurer l'arbitrage entre les demandes émanant de différentes voies d'entrée et obéissant à des degrés de priorité différents.
