A composition capable of producing either solid propellant grains, liquid or gel monopropellants, all of which are electrically ignitable and capable of sustained controllable combustion at ambient pressure. Additional compositions capable of sustained controllable combustion at elevated pressures are described. Applications for the compositions disclosed herein are provided, and include among other applications use in small micro thrusters, large core-burning solid propellant gains, shaped explosives charges for military application, and pumpable liquids and gel monopropellants or explosives for military, commercial mining or gas and oil recovery. In alternative embodiments the above compositions may also incorporate an energetic nitrate polymer, bum rate modifiers, and/or metal fuel(s). The HIPEP formulation makes it possible to ignite and sustain combustion at ambient and vacuum conditions (a) without continuous electrical power and (b) while providing faster bum rates.
L'invention concerne une composition capable of produire soit des grains de propergol solide, soit des monoergols liquides ou sous forme de gel, tous ces produits pouvant être enflammés électriquement et produire une combustion prolongée contrôlable à pression ambiante. D'autres compositions pouvant produire une combustion prolongée contrôlable à des pressions élevées sont décrites. L'invention concerne des applications destinées aux compositions décrites, y compris entre autres leur utilisation dans de petits micropropulseurs, de grands blocs de propergol solide à combustion centrale, des charges explosives façonnées à des fins militaires; et des monoergols ou des explosifs pompables, liquides et sous forme de gel, destinés à une exploitation minière commerciale ou militaire, ou à une extraction de gaz et de pétrole. Dans d'autres modes de réalisation, ces compositions peuvent aussi comprendre un polymère de nitrate actif, des modificateurs de vitesse de combustion et/ou un ou des carburant(s) métallique(s). La formulation HIPEP (propergols haute performance commandés électriquement) permet d'enflammer de telles compositions et de produire une combustion prolongée dans des conditions ambiantes et de vide (a) sans application d'énergie électrique continue, et (b) d'obtenir des vitesses de combustion accélérées.
