A fashion accessory such as for example an ear-ring includes a mounting assembly to engage releasably an individual and has hypo-allergenic material on surfaces thereof contacting the individual. An ornemental element is releasably attachable to the mounting assembly. A spacer spaces the ornamental element from the individual when attached to the mounting assembly. The spacer also has hypo-allergenic material on surfaces thereof contacting the individual. The ornamental element may be intercharged with other ornamental assemblies to change the desired ornamental effect of the fashion accessory without requiring removal of the mounting assembly from the individual.
