ABSTRACT Workers involved in the erection of structural steel are continually exposed to the danger of falling. Historically, such workers were exempt from the safety requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Recently the exemption (in Ontario) was removed. Now all workers must - at all times - be fully protected from falling. The invention presented in this document involves the use of a sliding bracket which is fitted to the steel beam. The worker is then connected to the bracket by a lanyard. The worker is continually tied to the beam upon which he is walking. In the event of an accident, the worker's fall is arrested.
