ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A fast-closing valve, especially for lines that are endangered by explosion, having a valve plate that is guided in a housing and is activated pneumatically so that it can be moved transversely to the line. In order to shorten the closing time, the housing itself is designed as a cylinder and the pressure medium is applied directly to pressure the valve plate on one of its front faces.
