This is an implant for placement in the human body and an assembly for so placing that implant. Most desirably, it is an implant for use in the vasculature of the human body and is used to occlude some space in that vasculature as a portion of a treatment regimen. The implant itself is preferably a component of a deployment device using an electrolytically severable joint. The implant is electrically isolated from the electrolytically severably joint by a highly resistive or insulative layer. Such isolation and minimization of the conductive pathway from the placement apparatus to the body's fluids appears to enhance the susceptibility of the electrolytic joint to quick erosion and detachment of the implant from the deployment media. Although the implant itself is preferably a vaso-occlusive device, it may instead be a stent, a vena cava filter, or other implant which may be installed in this manner.
Cette invention concerne un implant destiné à être placé dans un corps humain et un ensemble permettant de placer cet implant. Cet implant est de préférence destiné à être utilisé dans le système vasculaire du corps du patient et sert à obstruer un espace dans ledit système vasculaire dans le cadre d'un schéma thérapeutique. L'implant lui-même est de préférence un élément d'un dispositif à déploiement comprenant une articulation électrolytiquement séparable. L'implant est électriquement isolé de l'articulation électrolytiquement séparable par une couche hautement résistive ou isolante. Cette isolation et la réduction maximale du chemin conducteur entre l'appareil de placement et les fluides corporels semblent accroître la susceptibilité de l'articulation électrolytique à s'éroder rapidement et à se détacher de l'implant depuis le milieu de déploiement. Même si l'implant lui-même est de préférence un dispositif d'occlusion vasculaire, il peut également se présenter sous forme d'un stent, d'un filtre pour vena cava, ou de tout autre implant pouvant être installé de cette manière.
