A system for allowing fast review of scanned baggage represented by 3D data set is disclosed. The system comprises a scanning device producing a 3D data set of a piece of baggage, a computer (workstation) with a monitor and software as detailed below, a custom-made button box with a built-in track ball to control a pointer on the monitor, and a network connection between the scanning device and the computer to transfer the image data from the scanning device to the workstation. A system for visualizing and extracting 3D objects of interest from scanned baggage represented by a 3D data set is also disclosed. The system comprises a scanning device producing a 3D data set of a piece of baggage, a computer (workstation) with a keyboard, pointing device, a monitor, and a software, and a network connection between the scanning device and the computer to transfer the image data from the scanning device to the workstation.
