-15- IMPROVED FAST-SETTING CEMENTS FROM AMMONIUM PHOSPHATE FERTILIZER SOLUTION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Improved magnesium phosphate fast-setting cements can be prepared by treating ammonium phosphate fertilizer solution with an effective amount of an acidic phosphate additive. This additive can include polyphosphoric acid, orthophosphoric acid, monoammonium phosphate, monomagnesium phosphate and mixtures thereof. The fertilizer solution is treated with sufficient additive to reduce the pyrophosphate content of the fertilizer below 8 weight percent expressed as P205. The treated ammonium phosphate fertilizer solution is capable of forming a fast-setting cement at ambient temperatures when mixed with a magnesium-containing compound and an optional aggregate.
